Stelios Magkanaris, director and founder of Maradco (Marine Adjusters & Consultants Inc) in Piraeus, Greece, is passionate about proactiveness, speed and responsibility in claim handling as well as keen on knowledge sharing within the marine insurance world.

Committed to a hands-on approach that connects the core technical issues of a casualty with the marine insurance law and practice.

His academic background includes a B.Eng(Hons) and M.Sc  in Mechanical and Marine engineering  from the Universities of Surrey and Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, after qualifying as a merchant marine engineer officer from the National Marine Academy in Greece.

Stelios completed the full series of professional examinations and qualified for the Fellowship of the Association of Average Adjusters (AAA) of UK in 2017.

Stelios has 30 years of combined experience as technical superintendent in a major shipping company who was also responsible for a series of newbuilding projects including the attendance of their constructions at the shipyard; Technical and Marine Claims’ Manager of a leading H&M Underwriter,  adjusting and handling  all kinds of complicated casualties  onboard and ashore on behalf of  the insurers; experience in mediation and acting as witness in Court cases in London  leading up to the Supreme Court.

At present Stelios has dedicated his activities to handling and adjusting casualties as well as providing expert opinion on insurance matters including advice in marine insurance disputes.
